In 2018 my son Zach and I traveled with a small team of volunteers and S4S staff to Honduras. We sorted shoes, loaded vans, and headed each day to a different village or school.
Every day I was reminded that borders shouldn't matter. Every child, every human being, deserves kindness, safety, education and a future they can look forward to.
I love my 4th graders!! Volunteering to read with kids in Metro schools is one of the highlights of my life! When I started, I thought I'd just read. But we do so much more! We share stories, we discuss books and we write. Children truly are he future!
I tell my teen-aged students (and grown-ups too!) to go with their passion. What matters to you? What stirs your soul? What causes you to stand up and shout? That. Do that.
There are endless was to spread love and make the world a better place.
Start small or go big.
